Why Edison Needs a Records Map
Printed household directories are not the main current source for Edison. The underlying evidence remains, but Middlesex County and New Jersey keep it in separate systems. An assessment, deed index, court search, vital-record request, and library volume answer different questions and carry different access limits. Edison changed from Raritan Township in 1954, so an older name can also change where a search begins. This private reference brings together office routes, collection years, and the terms needed to use those sources carefully.
What the Directory Provides
- Pages by angle: the street directory for parcel-keyed records, the city directory for historical holdings, and the resident lookup for a name-first verification path
- Custodian routes: Edison assessment and municipal offices, the Middlesex County Clerk, elections offices, courts, vital records, and library archives
- Research methods: ways to move from a street to a block and lot, read a directory volume, or follow a documented property trail backward
- Access limits: New Jersey OPRA, record-specific restrictions, privacy programs, and alternatives when an item is not available online
Limits of This Private Reference
We run a private reference service, not an Edison office, Middlesex County department, New Jersey agency, court, or library. Important limits include:
- We cannot confirm that a particular person now lives in Edison
- We cannot pull, certify, or change any record on your behalf
- We cannot add anyone to, or remove anyone from, any roll or database
- We cannot give legal advice about a record or a dispute
- We cannot promise that every coverage year, link, or office detail here is current at this moment
Only the office that keeps a record can certify, correct, or conclusively confirm it. This reference is not a consumer report and may not be used for FCRA-regulated decisions.
